UALR William H. Bowen School of Law
Inclement Weather Policy

The Inclement Weather Policy addresses cancellation of classes for weather-related reasons, class make-ups, and rescheduling of final examinations.

General Policy

UALR, including the William H. Bowen School of Law, will cancel DAY classes whenever the Little Rock School District closes because of weather, EXCEPT DURING FINAL EXAMINATIONS. (see below)

This policy means that, if the Little Rock School District closes, all day classes at the Bowen School of Law will be cancelled and all law school offices will be closed. The UALR/Pulaski County Law Library will also close.

UALR will make a separate decision about whether to cancel NIGHT classes. That decision will be made, when possible, by 2:00 p.m.

If UALR cancels night classes, the Bowen School of Law's night classes are cancelled.

The best places to check for school closings are in the media (especially radio stations KUAR 89.1 or KLRE 90.5) or the UALR Web Page (www.ualr.edu).

If there is no announcement about closing the Little Rock School District or UALR, the Bowen School of Law is open and classes will meet.

Making up Classes

All classes cancelled due to inclement weather will be made up during the same semester.

Classes that are not made up before the last scheduled day of class may be made up during the first two days of the reading period.

Final Examinations

DURING FINAL EXAMINATIONS, UALR will make the decision whether or not to close independent of the decision of the Little Rock School District. It is possible, during the final exam period only, for UALR or the Bowen School of Law to remain open even though the Little Rock School District is closed.

If the Bowen School of Law is declared closed during the final examination period, any faculty member may, at his or her discretion, administer a final examination to any students who appear at the scheduled examination time.

Any student who does not appear for the final examination during a period when the Bowen School of Law is closed shall be afforded an opportunity to take a rescheduled final examination.

If the Bowen School of Law remains open for final exams during a period of inclement weather, a student who is unable to travel to the School of Law due to weather conditions should contact the faculty member involved and request permission to reschedule the examination.

If the Bowen School of Law remains open for final exams during a period of inclement weather, a faculty member who is unable to travel to the law school to administer an examination due to weather conditions should notify the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, who will arrange for the examination to be administered at the scheduled time and location.
