Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program


Applicants who are certain the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law is the right law school for them and who wish to be considered for a full-tuition scholarship and faculty research assistantships may choose to apply through the Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program.

Applicants selected to be Bowen Fellows will be awarded a scholarship of up to full tuition and be given first-choice of faculty research assistantships.

Applicants for the Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program must have an LSAT score of 159 or higher, an undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or higher, and a sincere desire to attend Bowen full-time.

Applicants for the Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program must submit a statement of no more than 500 words discussing their academic interests in the law and how they feel Bowen will allow them to explore those interests. This statement should be submitted with the application and is in addition to the personal statement.

The deadline for Bowen Fellowship applications is January 1. All required documents must be submitted by this date. Bowen will mail early admission decisions no later than January 15. Seat deposits will be due February 1.

Applicants who accept offers to become Bowen Fellows must submit a non-refundable seat deposit of $750 and a signed Early Admission Agreement which will require them to withdraw all pending applications, decline any pending offers of admission, and not initiate applications at any other law schools. The deadline for submission of these materials is February 1.

Applicants who apply through the Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program but are not admitted will be considered for admission through the regular admission process.

What are the benefits of Bowen Fellowships?

Bowen Fellows will receive scholarships of up to full tuition and be given first-choice of faculty research assistantships. Also, Bowen Fellows will be informed of their admission decision early in the process, allowing them ample time to plan for the upcoming school year.

What are the criteria for being considered through the Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program?

Are my chances for admission greater if I apply through the Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program?

We expect the admit rate for Bowen Fellowship applicants to be higher than that of the larger pool of applicants. However, the higher admit rate will be a reflection of the remarkable strength of this self-selected group of applicants. All applicants receive a holistic review of credentials by the Admissions Committee.

Are part-time applicants eligible for the Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program?

No. Given the nature of the fellowships, only full-time applicants are eligible to be considered.

If I am not offered admission through the Bowen Fellowship Early Admission Program, may I be considered for admission through the regular process?

Yes. All applicants who are not selected as Bowen Fellows will be considered for admission through the regular process.
