On April 16, 2009 the Bowen Law School held their first annual Alumni Scholarship Luncheon at The Peabody Ballroom. Senator Mark Pryor was the keynote speaker. We are pleased to have honored Congressman Vic Snyder, Idonia Trotter and Professor Lynn Foster for their outstanding public service.

Vic Snyder has served in the United States House of Representatives since 1997 after being a state Senator for six years. Congressman Snyder received his M.D. from UAMS and, while practicing medicine, received his J.D. from UALR in 1988. He chairs the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and is a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee and the House Armed Services Committee.

Idonia Trotter is the first student to complete the concurrent JD/Master of Public Service degree with the Clinton School. As part of her degree program, she traveled to Belize to work with a local officials to advocate for the victims of sexual abuse. Honorable Mentions included Carla Johnson, Antwan Philips, Megan Gammill and Mike Lauro.

Lynn Foster, the Arkansas Bar Foundation Professor of Law, is the recipient of the 2009 Faculty Excellence Award for Service will be the faculty honoree. Professor Foster has a long history of important contributions to Arkansas' academic and legal communities.

Special thanks to our sponsor Perkins & Trotter, PLLC for their generous support, and thank you to all who attended this wonderful event. We raised $20,000, and these monies will endow one scholarship. We hope you will make plans to attend the second annual Alumni Scholarship Luncheon next spring!
