Professor Mitchell joined the law school faculty in July 2002. Before coming to UALR, she was engaged in private practice. Her main practice areas were estate and tax planning, elder law, and asset protection. Prior to going into private practice, she was the Director of the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic at the University of Mississippi, where she and her team of students were responsible for developing easy-to-understand forms that victims of abuse could use to seek protection from their abusers, without the assistance of a lawyer. She also was a Staff Attorney in the Fair Housing Clinic at the University of Mississippi.
