Professor Peltz joined the faculty in January 1998 after practicing law with the Baltimore firm of Venable, Baetjer & Howard.  He teaches Torts, Advanced Torts, Constitutional Law, Communications Law,  First Amendment, and Freedom of Information Law.  He also has taught International Mass Communication in the UALR School of Journalism and Mass Communication.  He has won the Law School Faculty Excellence Awards in teaching, research, and service, the FOI Award of the Arkansas Press Association, and a Meritorious Service Award from the School of Mass Communication.  Professor Peltz does research and public service in U.S. and international media law and policy, including defamation, copyright, free speech, access to public records and meetings, and the practice of journalism. He is co-author with John J. Watkins of the treatise, The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (4th ed. 2004; 5th ed. forthcoming 2009), and with Marshall S. Shapo of the casebook, Tort and Injury Law (3d ed. 2006), and author of law review articles, book chapters, and shorter treatments in media, tort, and constitutional law.  Professor Peltz has been active with the Association of American Law Schools, the American Bar Association Tort Trial Insurance Practice Section, the Association for Education in Journalism Mass Communication, the Arkansas Freedom of Information Coalition, and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Media Law & Ethics.  He has served as a visiting professor for the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, teaching U.S. constitutional law, administrative law, and free expression law to students in Washington, D.C., and Kraków, Poland. Professor Peltz volunteers for the League of United Latin American Citizens Council #750, and Hostelling Arkansas, Inc.
