Professor
Beaird has a broad acquaintance with the creation, dissemination and
preservation of information and knowledge. He served as Law Librarian
at the University of Mississippi in the late 1970's, then left to
go into legal publishing. He founded the Austin, Texas division of
Butterworth Publishing Company, then was promoted to Vice President
for Government and Library Relations. When Butterworth's parent company
purchased Michie Publishers, he became Deputy Director of Code Publications
and Development. After almost two decades in legal publishing, he
returned to legal education in 1997 by accepting a position as Deputy
Director at St. John's University. He joined the UALR faculty in 1998
and teaches Legal Research.
