I did most of my undergraduate work at UALR but went off to serve in Iraq with the 39th infantry brigade, Army National Guard in 2004. From there, I moved to Southern California to help start up an internet tourism business and finished my undergraduate degree at Excelsior College with a degree in Liberal Arts. After failing initially in this business venture, I decided to achieve my childhood dream of going to law school. There in Los Angeles, I studied for the LSAT and made my plans.
"I had three locations in mind to attend law school:Los Angeles, New York, or Arkansas. While I enjoyed the diversity and new experiences in L.A. and was very curious about New York, my heart along with the high cost of living in L.A. brought me back home. I finished my application almost a full year before classes began and started a pizzeria on Broadway in North Little Rock. I ran this small business for a year and now focus fully on the study of law.
"My mother and I are a true American story. We came here without much, and after all these years, we feel blessed, even amongst these difficult economic times. I know the biggest joy for my mother is that I am in law school. I am the first person in my American side or Korean side of the family to be in law school, and my whole family is proud.
"The UALR Bowen School of Law is a very diverse school, with great professors and faculty. My friendships and the education that I received have been amazing. I believe that amazing things will continue to those that study here and it is truly a remarkable place. The diversity, hospitality, and quality of education here is second to none."
