Access to Justice Commission Plans Conference


The Arkansas Access to Justice Commission will hold its Promise of Justice conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock.

Three hours of continuing legal education credit (CLE) - with one of those being in ethics - will be given to those who register and pay the $100 conference fee. The conference is free if attendees decide not to pursue the CLE credit. Lunch will be provided for attendees. Students may attend the conference for free.

H. Thomas Wells Jr., immediate past president of the American Bar Association, will be the opening keynote speaker, and Jess Dickinson, associate justice on the Mississippi Supreme Court, will be the lunch keynote speaker. Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Annabelle Clinton Imber, 1977 UALR Bowen School of Law graduate, will deliver the morning presentation.

The conference will feature four discussion groups:

  • Family Law and Low-income Arkansans
  • Consumer Law and Low-income Arkansans
  • Housing Law and Low-income Arkansans
  • Public Benefits Law and Low-income Arkansans
