Four Named Professorships Awarded
Upon the recommendation of the Promotion and Tenure Committee for the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law, Dean John DiPippa has announced four named professorships to be awarded beginning Aug. 15, 2010. Each of the positions will be for a four-year term.
The Nadine Baum Professorship was awarded to Professor Terri Beiner. She researches and writes in the areas of employment discrimination law as
well as the interaction between civil procedure and civil rights law. Her courses include civil procedure, constitutional law, gender and the law, sexual harassment, federal jurisdiction, and employment discrimination
The Judge Howard Jr. Professorship was awarded to Professor Michael Flannery. He teaches decedents’ estates and trusts, family law, prudent investing of trusts, animal law, and sports law. Flannery’s research has been cited by the Supreme Court of
New Jersey, the Supreme Court of Texas, the First District Court of
Appeal of Florida, the Alabama Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals of
Georgia, and the Supreme Court of Iowa.
Professor Lynn Foster was named to the Arkansas Bar Foundation Professorship. She currently teaches property, decedents’ estates and trusts, secured transactions, and legal history. Foster also serves on the Arkansas Commission on Uniform State Laws and is an
Arkansas representative at the National Conference of Commissioners on
Uniform State Laws.
Professor Sarah Howard Hobbs was awarded the Charles C. Baum Professorship. She has published extensively in the areas of commercial law and has
been deeply involved in the reform of commercial law on the national
level. Hobbs teaches contracts, commercial paper, international business transactions, and sales.
Professor Philip Oliver chairs the Promotion and Tenure Committee.
