September ELS Meeting
The
first Environmental Law Section meeting of 2004-2005 will be held
Tuesday, September 14 at 12:00 p.m. with
a Section Officer and Governing
Council meeting at 11:30 a.m. The September meeting will take place
at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality in Conference Rooms
A & B in the Administration Building. September’s speakers
will be Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality Legal Division
Chief Ellen Carpenter and Pollution Control and Ecology Commission
Hearing Officer Michael O’Malley discussing the Draft Proposal
for revisions to DEQ’s Regulation Eight, Administrative Procedures.

October ELS Meeting
Not enough people were interested or able to attend an October meeting
on the Buffalo River on the weekend of October 23. (There is still
the possibility of holding such a meeting in April.) Journalist Carole
Griffee has agreed to speak to us about her experiences investigating
environmental law on October 12.
November ELS Meeting
Representative Sam Ledbetter will be speaking to us about potential
environmental legislation for the 2005 session.
